The solution is here. I already wanted to do this years ago, but just postponed it every time. Now I finally did it, just took me 10 minutes.
Just use those bags and staple them on a canvas et voila: your own cute diy wall decoration. I made this Miffy one for the nursery and am planning to make some more for the rest of the house.
